Spalding is the first jazz musician to ever win the Best New Artist GRAMMY® Award. Her inclusion in this mainstream category signified her considerable appeal to a broad audience. She was nominated along with Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence & the Machine, and Mumford & Sons.
